German New Guinea coins (Deutsch-Neuguinea)
The coins of German New Guinea are some of the most sought-after German colonial coins. The coins were official currency in German New Guinea between 1894 and 1911. However, all coins are one year types and mintage was not very high. Until 1899, German New Guinea was under authority of the Neuguinea-Kompagnie which is why 'German Empire' ('Deutsches Reich') is not written on the coins.
